What does CEAMA do?
CEAMA is an all India body of the organizations in the consumer electronics and Home Appliances sector. It works for the growth and development of the consumer electronics & Home Appliances sector in the country.
Who are the members in CEAMA?
All organizations such as equipment manufacturers, R&D institutions, component manufacturers for consumer electronics and durables, etc. are members of CEAMA. The membership spectrum comprises of Domestic & MNCs and includes large, medium and small-scale sectors.
What are various categories of the membership?
There are three categories of membership
Ordinary Members
It is open for any bonafide company, having interests in consumer electronics & Home Appliances sector.
Associate Members
It is open to any bonafide company engaged in the business in consumer electronics and is registered as Small Scale Industrial Units and has annual turnover of less than Rs. 10 crores.
Honorary Members
It is by invitation to any individual to be Honorary Members from among those, who have distinguished themselves as scientists, academicians, industrialists and officials in matters related to the field of electronics.
What do I get for membership of CEAMA?
CEAMA takes up problems of Members with concerned authorities of Central & State Government for their resolution.
It Provides consultancy to members on general matters related to taxation, Excise and Customs, Value Added Tax, Company Law Board, Export-Import Policy & Procedure, WTO related matters etc. organizes trade and industrial missions comprising of members, specialists and entrepreneurs both in India and abroad and to arrange meetings with the foreign trade and industrial teams visiting India. Creates Data Bank for use of Members & act as an information centre to collect literature, books, periodicals, magazines and other publications from India and abroad. Conducts Training Programs/Workshops for members.
What are the functions performed by CEAMA?
The main functions of CEAMA are:
To encourage the use of indigenous Consumer Electronic Products.
To obtain the removal of grievances affecting the members in general and to promote or oppose legislative and other measures relating to the Consumer Electronics industry, as circumstances may require.
To evolve code of conduct for healthy growth of the Industry and Trade and to make efforts to resolve disputes between Members and Trade.
To organize periodical meetings, seminars, symposia, etc. with Government officials and other concerned people and to seek clarification and solution to the problems confronting the industry.
To facilitate domestic and foreign Direct Investment in Consumer Electronics & Home Appliances.
To organize trade and industry missions comprising of members, specialists and entrepreneurs both in India and abroad and to arrange meetings with the foreign trade and industrial teams visiting India.
To formulate expert opinion on topical subjects and to submit wherever necessary, recommendations to the concerned authorities and to render advice to the members.
To render expert advice on different problems and solutions thereto in connection with taxation, excise and customs, company law, import-export procedures and policies and any other matter, to members.
To secure the cooperation of manufacturers of basic and prime components and raw materials, used in manufacture of Consumer Electronic products & Home Appliances.
To improve and maintain quality of products to be at par with that available in international market.
To get studies conducted on relevant subject affecting the industry.
To act as an information centre, to collect literature, books, periodicals, magazines and other publications from all over the world, to disseminate factual information on all matters concerning the industry and to establish and run a modern library for reference, assistance and advantage of the members.
To publish books and brochures on subjects of topical interest that the Association may think desirable, for the promotion of its objects.
To organize exhibitions and / or take up mass communication projects by means of newsletters, circulars, notices, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, televisions, radio etc.
To establish effective communication for supporting or opposing the policies of the Government in the interest of its members.
To encourage the use of as much indigenous raw material as may be feasible in the manufacture of Consumer Electronic products & Home Appliances consistent with economy, quality and standards.
To counteract unfair commercial and trade practices by legitimate means.
To subscribe, to become a member of or otherwise to cooperate with other Associations in India and abroad, whose objects are altogether or in part similar to those of CEAMA.
How do I become a member of CEAMA?
Any firm or company eligible for membership shall, if desirous of becoming a member, submit an application in the prescribed form duly proposed and seconded by any two members of the Association to the Secretary General, together with the admission fee and subscription for current year. The Secretary shall on receipt of such application, will get the same scrutinized by the Vice President of the region and put up the same at the next Committee meeting for consideration and approval. If the applicant is duly admitted, the Secretary General shall notify him of the fact and his name shall be entered in the Register of Members and he will have the rights and liabilities of membership of the company.
What do I pay to become a member of CEAMA?
Annual membership subscription is based on the annual turnover.
